Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.
My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.
How it’s Made
This tray is hand-built from stoneware clay and cut into a square form with softly scalloped edges. The surface is impressed with a dotted pattern around the rim, mimicking fine lace. The central window scene is hand-painted with underglazes, capturing details from the deep red curtains to the delicate iron balcony. After bisque firing, the tray is glazed in a soft speckled white, with the artwork sealed under a glossy clear glaze, then high-fired to over 2200°F for durability.
