Meet the Maker

Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.

My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.

How it’s Made

Each “Smarty Paws” apron is lovingly handmade right here at ArtShack! I start by selecting a high-quality 100% duck cotton fabric that’s both durable and easy to wash—because we potters know things can get muddy. The cheerful pattern of dogs in glasses instantly makes me smile, and I hope it does the same for you!

I cut and sew each apron myself, adding long, reinforced ties for an adjustable fit that’s comfortable during long studio sessions. Every stitch is made with care, ensuring it’s strong enough to handle splashes of glaze, clay dust, or even a flour storm if you wander into the kitchen.
