Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.
My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.
How it’s Made
Made from a hand-rolled slab of stoneware clay, this dish is shaped and smoothed before being decorated with a detailed Doberman image using a ceramic transfer process. Watermelon slices are hand-painted with underglazes, adding a pop of color and whimsy. After bisque firing, a clear glaze seals the artwork and gives it a glossy finish. The final high-temperature glaze firing locks in durability and charm—ready for everyday use or joyful display.
