Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.
My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.
How it’s Made
Hand-built from stoneware clay, the set begins with carefully shaped forms for pouring and storage. The creamer’s lower section is impressed with a geometric pattern, while the sugar jar’s base remains smooth for contrast. Once leather-hard, the surfaces are painted with underglaze portraits of playful, personality-filled cats. After bisque firing, the pieces are glazed — the top sections in clear to highlight the artwork, the bottoms in deep plum — and fired again to over 2200°F. The result is a durable, food-safe, dishwasher-friendly set that’s perfect for everyday or special-occasion use.
